The Newsletter

The monthly newsletter for the First Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill, Tennessee.

October 2015

From David's Desk

I was whining about writing the newsletter; I told Ken Beckman that it gets harder every year to come up with a “Guess Who?” because I’ve gone through everyone more than once and I’m having a harder and harder time thinking of something new with which to embarrass folks. Ken had the idea of asking a Bible trivia question in the place of “Guess Who?” and I think that’s a great idea. Now, I’m not going to be pig-headed about this; if the congregation wants to go back to ‘people trivia’ I’ll do it, but give this a shot. I’ll do a different book every month.

Please make note of the Flea Mkt. schedule, and if you are able to donate any items try to bring them by on the days the PW will have someone here to receive them. If it is impossible for you to drop stuff off on the 8th or 9th you can bring them by that week while I’m in the office.

The Play School is doing well, but they do have one opening for their Tuesday/Thursday class and three openings for their Wednesday/Friday class for children over three years old and potty trained.

Yours in Christ,

David

Prayer List

Please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers: Alice Campbell, Billie Galloway, Liz Jacobs, Juanita Roberts, Jim Victory, and Jean Webster. Also keep Marnie Pewitt, June William’s sister, in your prayers. Chris Hogan and his family need our constant prayers as well. Remember Ronnie Lankford in your prayers as he battles cancer.

PW News

The Flea Market is coming this month on Saturday, October 10; the PW is renting booths for $25 (contact Phyllis Anderson at 615-517-0623) and they will be offering their sale in the Fellowship Hall. The PW’s sale is dependent upon your donations of sellable (non-clothing) items, so if you have any “treasures” in your attic please consider cleaning them and bringing them by the church for the sale. Drop-off hours are Thursday the 8th from 12:00 until 5:00 and Friday from 9:00 until 6:00. The PW has been able to support many of the programs of the church and to pay for the redecoration of the Sunday school wing through proceeds from the Flea Market.

The Birthday Outing for October is on Wednesday the 14th; we will meet at the Old School Café at 11:30; the “birthday girls” are Gina Campbell, Alice Pierce, and Sherrie Hozeska.

Guess Who

September's "Guess Who?" – Polly Boone

From Genesis:

  • My father was Cush.
  • I was a great hunter.
  • I am credited with the founding of some great nations, some that became enemies of Israel.
  • David has an old pipe lighter named after me.
  • Funny Trivia: When was the first tennis game in the Bible?
